MERCURIAL

As the one who is so full of words.
and confidence,

it is in their exit — to fill up the space in between empty rooms
that i hear, and i respond, and i change…yes — myself.
in coordination

i heard too many words for even me, there.
this room.
the one full of my Dark,
as she lived with its light
only bringing the embrace of Her — ephemeral, however you may need it.

she chases a vial of iodine down, with her tongue
down my throat.
and finally Now, i know.
that i taste her as mercurial.

she knows what she’s doing.

like why we stopped using mercury in thermostats
and leaving it around carelessly.
no ounce of ignorance lies with her actions, or in any of Her.
however,

she does this with every thought in her.
She is that element and there she is all over my hands.

i am,
asking, no.
these begs for more are only heeded with
locked lips, transfers of what benevolence means.
what it means to
only Her.

sharper presses are calculated here, to remind of this chest, that it is getting tighter.
now warm to the embrace.

she knows what She is doing

there is mercury coating my throat,
and lips, and still
because she knows what i am, too
i trust her to twist the knife
and

NOT PULL IT OUT

I TRUST HER TO COVER ME ALL IN: RED
THE SAME COLOR AS HER ELEMENT — RED
HER ANCESTRAL HOME: MERCURY

AND AS I HEAR MINE CALL OUT FOR ME
PREPARING TO MEET IT
I—
I AM DRENCHED.

IN LANDMARKS.
NAMED FROM A PLANET, AN ELEMENT.
HER PLANET, IN HER ELEMENT.

and now my quiet poison resides…
oh,

She knows what She is doing.
